Stove and Cooktop Problems We Repair

Cooktops are precision appliances operating with high electrical current and combustible gas. If your surface elements are misbehaving, our technicians isolate the exact component failure with rigorous safety checks.

Burner Clicks but Won't Light

Continuous rapid clicking usually points to a wet or dirty ceramic igniter, an unseated burner cap, or a malfunctioning spark ignition module. We clean electrodes, verify wire continuity, and install direct-replacement ignition modules when internal switches fail.

Gas Burner Service

Electric Element Won't Heat

When a coil or radiant electric burner remains stone cold, the culprit is often a broken internal coil filament, corroded receptacle block, or burned infinite switch. We test each circuit with precision multimeters and replace burnt wiring or terminals.

Electric & Radiant Systems

Glass Cooktop Shows an Error or Stays Hot

Flashes of error codes, non-responsive touch controls, or burners locked on maximum heat signal a shorted relay board, surface temp sensor, or main controller. Safety Note: If your electric cooktop continues heating uncontrollably and will not turn off, switch off the breaker at your electrical panel immediately.

Digital Glass & Induction

Broken Knob or Control Panel

Stripped D-shafts, cracked bezels, or unresponsive touch membranes prevent accurate heat control. We source OEM factory dials, potentiometer stems, and touch panels to restore smooth, accurate temperature regulation without guesswork.

OEM Component Replacement

Weak or Uneven Flame

A flame that burns yellow, sputters, or leaves large gaps around the burner ring is usually caused by clogged burner ports, liquid residue in the venturi tube, or a faulty pressure regulator. We clear internal channels, align air shutters, and measure gas delivery pressure for a crisp, even blue flame.

Immediate Safety Protocol

Smell Gas? Get Outside First, Then Call

If you detect the sulfur or rotten-egg odor of a gas leak:

  • 1. Do NOT flip light switches, operate appliances, pick up landline phones, or strike lighters or matches.
  • 2. Evacuate everyone immediately, leaving doors open behind you to help ventilate.
  • 3. Call 911 or your local gas utility from outside or from a neighbor's house.

Important Notice: A gas leak is strictly an emergency for your gas utility or 911 first. Appliance Repair Kirkland repairs the stove, valves, and piping connections only after the utility or emergency crew has verified the home is completely secure and safe to enter.

Schedule Post-Safety Repair

Gas, Electric, Induction and Glass-Top Stoves

Every cooking platform relies on distinct engineering principles. Gas cooktops typically face issues with clogged burner ports, oxidized igniters, or stuck safety valves. Conventional electric coil models frequently suffer from oxidized receptacle contacts and broken terminal blocks. Smooth radiant glass cooktops commonly encounter burnt limit sensors, failed dual-zone elements, and scarred glass surfaces. Advanced induction cooktops require precision diagnosis for inverter module breakdowns, failed pan-detection sensors, and power filter board issues. Our technicians carry specialized test meters and factory parts for each configuration.

Stove Repair FAQs

Everything you need to know about burner operation, glass replacement, and cooktop safety.

Q. Why won't my gas burner stop clicking?

A burner that clicks continuously even when turned off is usually suffering from trapped moisture after a recent cleaning, spilled liquid or grease bridging the electrode gap, or a shorted ignition harness switch behind one of the burner knobs. Allowing the cooktop to dry thoroughly will occasionally resolve wet switches; however, persistent clicking requires testing the harness switches and spark module to eliminate a continuous short circuit.

Q. Can a cracked glass cooktop be replaced?

Yes, on almost all models the ceramic-glass top assembly can be replaced as an individual OEM part without needing to buy a brand new stove. Stop using a cracked glass cooktop immediately. Liquid spills leaking through the crack can cause direct electrical shorts to the 240V internal wiring below, posing serious shock hazards and permanently destroying electronic control boards.

Q. Is it safe to cook with one burner out?

It depends strictly on the underlying cause. If an electric coil simply has a burnt heating filament and the other burners function normally, using the remaining elements is generally acceptable. However, never use the stove if you smell unburned gas, see random electrical sparks, or notice scorch marks under the cooktop surface. In those circumstances, leave the unit turned off until a certified appliance technician inspects the assembly.
